The Communication Workers Union (CWU) is the Communications Division of the Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union (CEPU).
CWU represents all workers in the:
• Telecommunications Industry including
• Telstra , Optus, Contractors, NBN etc
• Postal Industry including Australia Post
The CWU exists to help members. Officials, workplace delegates and members of the CWU know that we all need help at work from time to time. It doesn’t matter whether the problem is big or small it’s good to know that there is someone there prepared to help.
Everyday CWU officials visit workplaces to hear members concerns, answer questions, resolve disputes, negotiate improvements to pay and conditions, check pay records and improve occupational health and safety standards.
CWU Workplace Representatives are also there to help. They are trained to deal with your workplace problems and know where to get assistance if they can’t fix the problem themselves. CWU Members know the benefits of working together. When you join the CWU you will be joining other workers who want to help each other maintain a good standard of living for themselves, their families and the whole community.
By joining the CWU you are making sure that you never have to handle a situation at work by yourself. You can ask for help from the other members, your workplace representative or CWU Officials.
CWU members receive high quality industrial services as well as a range of other benefits. CWU Industrial Services provide you with representation before your employer, the Courts or Industrial Commissions on any employment matter including:
• Negotiations for pay increases and improved working conditions
• Unfair dismissal claims
• Workplace agreements negotiations
• Workers compensation hearings
• Discrimination and harassment complaints
• Recovery of lost wages
• Leave entitlements negotiations
And anything else that may affect your working life.
